Wispy Clinches Third Straight NRRS Chase Berth at Martinsville

Martinsville delivered more than another strong finish for Wispy on Tuesday night. By bringing the #32 Aetherwing entry home fourth in the Goody's Fast Relief 500, Wispy officially secured a place in the NRRS Season 3 Chase and extended one of the most consistent postseason runs of his RoRacing career.

Wispy started seventh and finished fourth, earning 33 finishing points. A fifth-place result in Stage 2 added six more points after an eighth-place Stage 1, bringing the night's total to 39 race points. The result left Wispy sixth in the standings with 553 points, 196 behind the championship leader and, most importantly, 211 points above the Chase cutoff.

That margin officially removed the uncertainty from the postseason picture. The #32 is locked into the championship field.

Three Straight in NRRS

The Martinsville clinch continues a streak that began in NRRS Season 1. Wispy has now qualified for the Chase in each of his first three recorded NRRS postseason campaigns: Season 1 on points, Season 2 through an All-Star victory, and Season 3 on points following the Martinsville result.

The paths have not all looked the same. The first NRRS berth was earned through regular-season consistency. The second came with a direct ticket into the Chase when Wispy won the Season 2 All-Star Race at Miami. Season 3 returns to the points route, with the #32 building enough of a cushion to mathematically secure its place in the field.

Five Berths, Three Series

NRRS accounts for three of Wispy's five confirmed Chase appearances, but the postseason résumé reaches beyond one league. A Kmart Season 1 berth was secured on points after Kansas, while a victory in the UARL Season 4 regular-season finale at Indianapolis locked Wispy into that championship field.

Altogether, the record now stands at three NRRS berths, one Kmart berth, and one UARL berth. Two of the five were secured directly by race wins: the NRRS Season 2 All-Star victory at Miami and the UARL Season 4 win at Indianapolis.

The Championship Fight Is Next

Martinsville did not end the job; it guaranteed the opportunity to keep fighting for it. With the Season 3 Chase berth now secured, Wispy and the #32 Aetherwing program can turn their attention toward the postseason and another chance to convert a Chase appearance into a championship run.

Whatever comes next, the qualification itself adds another marker to the record book: five confirmed Chase appearances, three different series, and three consecutive seasons in the NRRS championship field.
